SkinPen® by Crown Aesthetics is a non-surgical, aesthetic microneedling device for the creation of “micro” skin punctures to improve the appearance of the skin. SkinPen is an automated microneedling technology device designed for use by medical professionals only. It is the only U.S. engineered and manufactured microneedling pen on the market, with patent-pending, medical grade stainless steel needle cartridge. It is a disposable cartridge with a lock out mechanism ensuring single use only.

SkinPen works by creating a series of hundreds of microscopic channels into the dermis to stimulate the skin’s natural production of new collagen and elastin, helping skin to look and feel healthier. SkinPen needles cycle at 100+ stamps/second, potentially creating 1600+ microchannels/second when moving the skin pen.

SkinPen procedures are beneficial to assist in reducing the signs of aging, improving the appearance of stretch marks and/or acne scars, as well as to rejuvenate aging skin.

Your skin expert will apply a topical numbing cream to the treatment area and place you under an LED light for 30 minutes. During the treatment, you will feel slight pressure and a mild prickling sensation. Most clients report experiencing only a mild discomfort.

Immediately after, the skin will be red and feel tight or dry. You may return to work the following day. Skin may be red for up to a week after treatment. The skin may flake or shed for 2-7 days after. Sunscreen is extremely important when outside. Vitamin C, retinols, and exfoliation are to be avoided for 7-10 days after microneedling.

The number of sessions depends on the targeted skin concern. For overall rejuvenation, a series of three treatments is a good starting point, whereas more extensive issues, such as acne scars and stretch marks, may require six to eight sessions. Skin improvement continues for up to six months after your last session and one to two yearly sessions are recommended for best maintenance.

SkinPen® Microneedling is not recommended for women who are pregnant or nursing.

To ensure proper healing, we encourage patients to observe a set of post-care instructions for a specific period of time. Amongst these instructions are:
-Avoid direct sunlight and exposure to harmful UV rays
-Avoid swimming or immersing your face in water
-Avoid strenuous exercise or any activities that promote sweating
-Avoid any product usage with harsh chemical ingredients
-Avoid applying make-up or lotions
